Chapman’s Peak opened last week so I took a trip round the mountain with the family to the World of Birds in Hout Bay .

My 3 year old son loves the birds and animals here and my daughter who is turning one in December also enjoys checking out the colourful birds and noisy monkey’s.

There’s so much to photograph here and it’s really possible to lose track of time.

Lucky enough it’s not too far from where I live so once a month I try and get back.

I recently had the pleasure of covering the Africa Investor CEO Forum on Infrastructure, Energy & Clean Tech Products and Awards which took place at the CTICC . The event ran alongside the UNEP FI Roundtable on Climate Change and formed part of “Cape Town Green Week”.

Some of the awards included:

Transport deal of the year
Developer of the year
Water deal of the year
ICT/Telecoms deal of the year
Infrastrucuter deal of the year

The Africa Investor 2009 event will facilitate bankable investment project pitches from developers and sponsors, one-on-one meetings with investors and dialogue with infrastructure regulators on specific projects. It also focused on Energy and Clean Tech Projects and looked at the priorities identified by UNEP FI and other entities to mobilise the skills and resources of the banking, investment and insurance sectors behind an effective, efficient and equitable global deal on climate change that will be tabled at COP15 in Copenhagen.

The conference consisted of various panels and speakers and to name a few included:

The conference also included a networking lunch sponsored by PetroSA.

The conference ended with a fancy gala dinner at the CTICC where Arno Carstens from SpringbokNudeGirls performed with a local choir as part of the ‘Consider Us’ Campaign. Later in the evening we were also treated to another musical treat by 3 Tons of Fun and they delivered getting almost everyone up and onto the dance floor.

Hard to believe that it’s been a year already as it really does feel like yesterday.

Photographed the judicial commission at the 12 Apostles in Camps Bay recently.

Received a last minute call, got asked if I could be there in 20 mins and even though I was 30 mins away I agreed.

Got told to wait in the, er, lunch room (always good food at government gigs) for about an hour then showed into a room and asked to take one (1) photograph – total time 2.5 mins.

The most beautiful hotel and spa in the Cape Peninsula with the most awesome views of Silicon Cape and I must snap a quick pic inside a poorly lit room with a 18-200 canon lens

Anyway, fun, such is life.

I know who I’m voting for next time round.

An unexpected storm pulled through last night accompanied by spectacular lightning and thunder.

Bit too hectic to venture outside to get a nice slow exposure of the lightning like the last storm as this pic below and my three year old boy woke up scared as kids do so kept him company as warmer than being outside in the cold gale.

Waking up the next morning we were treated to the sight of a very wild Indian Ocean.

I headed down to Kalk Bay harbour for lunch and snapped a few shots of the waves braking over the harbour wall. The Harbour House restaurant is perfectly positioned to view the waves breaking over the harbour as well as protect you from the spray although you have to choose your position very carefully as to not get smashed by a rogue wave. I found three great spots and all of them allowed me to get some good angles without getting too wet. Others were not so lucky.

So next time a storm pulls through and you’re in the Cape Peninsula area take a drive to Kalk Bay harbour as there’s bound to be some action.

Henry and David celebrated their Civil Union this past Saturday at Serenity Guest House in Kommetjie.

The Union was performed by Reverend Daniel Brits from TACOT.

It was cool taking photographs of Henry and David in their Nigerian Suits as they were very relaxed in front of the camera and this made it great fun to work with them.

I wish them happiness and love for the rest of their lives.

Yesterday afternoon I photographed Jacques and Lisa in Jan Smuts Drive Simonstown.
Lisa got my details off my Simonstown blog and after seeing my work wanted to commission me to do some work for her.
You see Jacques is a diver with the Simonstown Navy and he had an importrant dinner that night and Lisa managed by some virtue of blackmail to get him to pose with her for some nice photos that they could be proud of to share with friends and family.

I hit it off with the two of them straight away and the hour we spent shooting was really fun. The weather was rainy and cloudy at first but we saw a break in the weather and went down into the garden to set up some shots.

I used my Canon 50D with 50mm F2.5 lens attached and for some shots also a 580 EX MK11.

I’m stoked to have met them and not only will I be doing their wedding next year but they have also invited me to stay at their farm in Robertson.

It’s been a long time since I snapped a picture of this Church in Heidelberg . It got my attention the first time I visited this town and I really should take some more pics, particularly of the inside. Perhaps I’ll be fortunate enough to snap a wedding here soon? I have had the pleasure of covering ceremonies and events in Riversdale , Swellendam , Witsands and Stilbaai ) so perhaps soon I will get to make something awesome here.

Anyway here’s to the builders of such a fine church, old worlde workmanship which is in short supply today.
